[Avionics Today Feb. 26, 2014] Pacific Aerospace selected the FreeFlight Systems RA-4500 radar altimeter system for its P-750 XSTOL short-takeoff and landing aircraft.

The selection comes following the FAA’s recent announcement mandating all Part 135 helicopter operators to equip their aircraft with radio altimeters. FreeFlight’s RA-4500 has precision from 2,500 feet to ground level and includes the company’s night-vision compatible RAD-40 panel-mounted display.

“The systems provide critical safety information in the types of conditions that P-750 pilots often fly in, including unfamiliar locations and poor conditions," said Tim Taylor, CEO of FreeFlight Systems.
