BAE Systems U.K. is upgrading its fleet of Cobham Falcon 20 aircraft with the Small Tactical Terminal (STT) KOR-24 to support Link 16 network pre-deployment training, ViaSat said Friday, Nov. 22.

The STT, developed jointly by ViaSat and Harris Corp., is the first certified VHF/UHF and Link 16 two-channel radio authorized for transmission within U.K. airspace. The Royal Navy Joint Support Air Tasking Organization will use the STT for fleet data link training and compatibility management of naval assets prior to operational deployment.

According to ViaSat, defense units are also considering the two-channel Link 16 radio terminal for deployment on helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
