Satellite-based Wi-Fi provider Global Eagle signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly develop the necessary infrastructure to support Chinese airlines, as they begin to increase access to in-flight Wi-Fi for commercial airline passengers.

"Our partnership will put in place a highly specialized infrastructure so that airlines can enable and reliably provide their in-flight connectivity offerings to the millions of passengers they serve," said John LaValle, CEO of Global Eagle.

Global Eagle subsidiary Row 44 will provide its in-flight connectivity system under the MOU. Currently, Chinasatcom operates 13 satellites and four earth stations.
