Nav Canada has a new agreement with Boeing Digital Aviation subsidiary Jeppesen to bring area navigation (RNAV) and required navigation performance (RNP) instrument flight procedures to the Canadian airspace.

Working with Jeppesen, the Canadian civil air navigation services provider will design airspace procedures that will allow operators to use Performance Based Navigation, the cornerstone technology for FAA’s NextGen and Europe’s SESAR airspace modernization programs.

"Working together, we will deliver optimized design and airspace procedures that will allow for more optimized operations through reduced fuel consumption and less airline miles flown," said Mark Van Tine, CEO of Jeppesen.

Nav Canada did not state when it expects the new procedures to be operational within Canadian airspace.
