South African Airways Selects Rockwell Collins Avionics for A320s

South African Airways (SAA) will deploy a full suite of Rockwell Collins avionics on 20 new Airbus A320s.

Rockwell Collins said the African carrier selected communications, surveillance, navigation avionics as well as its GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver and Iridum SATCOM system. The airline also selected theMultiScan Threat Detection System, an airborne weather radar system that displays weather patterns in real time.

The carrier plans to retrofit its current fleet of 11 A319s with the MultiScan system, in addition to its new A320s.

Delivery of the new avionics is scheduled to begin later this year, Rockwell Collins said.
