FAA issued an expanded Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to Astronics for its Max-Viz-1500 enhanced vision system to include all King Air aircraft equipped with video-capable multi function displays (MFDs).

Astronics said the expanded STC will also apply to King Air models that have MFDs equipped with video-capable electronic flight bags.

“With this expanded STC, the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 Enhanced Vision System can now be part of every King Air cockpit that flies with a video-capable MFD. By deploying this life-saving safety system on King Air aircraft, Hawker Beechcraft is giving many more owners and operators an opportunity to fly safer with the latest in dependable real-time imagery,” said Peter J. Gundermann, CEO of Astronics Corporation.

Prior to the expanded STC, the Max-Viz-1500 was only approved for King Air aircraft equipped with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics display.
