Avionics Magazine named Nan Mattai, senior vice president, Engineering and Technology, Rockwell Collins, as its Woman of the Year. Mattai will be recognized for her contributions to the aviation marketplace during the Women in Technology Awards Luncheon on June 4 in Washington, D.C.

Mattai is responsible for the company’s engineering and technology organization, including the Advanced Technology Center. In this role, she is responsible for guiding the future technology direction, technology investment decisions and the development of advanced technologies to meet the needs of various parts of the business.

“Our very impressive list of candidates made this a difficult choice to choose just one winner for the Woman of the Year,” said Emily Feliz, editor of Avionics Magazine. “Nan’s leadership and dedication to not only her job, but the aviation community as well, was the deciding factor in selecting her for this award. We are all extremely proud to recognize Nan Mattai as the Avionics Woman of the Year.”

“I am humbled to be recognized by Avionics Magazine as Woman of the Year,” said Nan Mattai, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Technology, Rockwell Collins. “As a senior executive of Rockwell Collins, I’m all too aware that I travel in a rarefied crowd—a woman, particularly a woman in an executive leadership role—in the field of science and engineering. I take my responsibility to the industry, to women in the industry and to the next generation of female engineers very seriously, and I hope this recognition serves as a model for others.”

At the Women in Technology Awards Luncheon, Avionics Magazine will honor women for their work in the aviation community. Three categories will be awarded at the Luncheon, Nan Mattai will be named the Woman of the Year, Women in Technology Corporate Award will go to Insitu, and Patricia Ververs from Honeywell International will be presented with the Emerging Leader Award.

Finalists for the Woman of the Year include Christine Haissig, Engineering Fellow, Honeywell; Claire Leon, Vice President, National Programs, Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems; and Jean Valentine, Program Manager, Radar Systems, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems.

The Women in Technology Awards Luncheon will take place on Monday, June 4 at the Grand Hyatt Washington located on 1000 H Street, NW, Washington, DC. For more information or to secure your seat at the Luncheon, visit www.AvionicsAwards.com.
