Indonesia airline Pacific Royale Airways will install FTTS (Fiber‐To‐The‐Screen), the fiber-optic in-flight entertainment system from Lumexis, of Irvine, Calif, for its fleet of A320s with five installations in 2012.

“Lumexis is delighted to partner with such an innovative young carrier as Pacific Royale Airways,” said Lumexis CEO Doug Cline. “As the launch customer for the Pacific Region, the company demanded not only unparalleled, leading‐edge performance, but most importantly, the highest reliability to assure uninterrupted service and full passenger satisfaction. The airline management’s emphasis on truly superior in‐flight service sets the carrier apart from its competitors.”

The system fully installed weighs 5.6 pounds per seat, compared with the weight of an average wide body installation, weighing 14 pounds per seat. Lumexis has been supported in the development of this IFE system by TE Connectivity, formerly Tyco Electronics, which supplies the fiber-optic cabling and optical technology.

Lumexis FTTS system has also been selected by flydubai and Russian carrier TransAero. More
