Thales, an electronic systems company announced Monday in Seattle, Wash., that China-based Hainan Airlines will install the TopSeries system on 15 new Airbus A330 aircraft, which will include audio and video on-demand capability throughout the cabin, according to the company.

Every business passenger will be equipped with a 15.4-inch, touch screen display, and economy passengers a 10.6-inch display. Slim-line control units, which support a range of advanced applications such as the Thales eBook reader, will be in each seat.

“Thales shares the vision that Hainan Airlines has for their airline,” said Alan Pellegrini, Thale’s in-flight entertainment business managing director. “I am confident that our TopSeries system will deliver to this high standard as we continue to bring new capabilities to their fleet for year after year.”

The first delivery is scheduled for early 2013 and the last in mid-2015.
