L-3 ‘s Link Simulation & Training division has been awarded a $24.1 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) with two F/A-18C Tactical Operational Flight Trainers (TOFT) and associated training equipment.

“These F/A-18 simulators will provide the Kuwait Air Force with a significant increase in training capability,” said Lenny Genna, president of L-3 Link. “The trainers will be built on a proven and reliable U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 simulator baseline, enabling Kuwaiti F/A-18 pilots to enhance their tactical skills over a full range of mission areas.”

In addition to the two F/A-18C TOFTs, L-3 Link will also deliver two instructor operator stations, a brief/debrief system, associated computational systems, a night vision training system and a theater-specific visual system database. Delivery of these systems will mark the 16th and 17th F/A-18 TOFTs supplied by L-3 Link to an international military service. The networked simulators will enable pilots to jointly conduct simulated air-to-air and air-to-ground tactics, normal and emergency procedures, and night vision goggle operations.
