EMS Aviation has been awarded a FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), authorizing installation of its Network Gateway product on Gulfstream G-IV series.

The newly certified unit is a component of EMS Aviation’s Forté AirMail e-mail system. The Forté AirMail system is designed to enable users to send and receive in-flight e-mail via handheld devices such as BlackBerrys, iPhones and other PDAs. The system can also be installed as an addition to a Forté voice solution, EMS said. Forté AirMail is offered as two options that fit a variety of aircraft. These include the AirMail- enabled Network Gateway and Forté AirMail with a CNX-100 Wi-Fi access point. Other required components include a Forté Iridium® transceiver and a single or dual Iridium antenna. When installed in the aircraft cabin, the Wi-Fi device (Network Gateway or CNX-100) passes e-mail through the Iridium transceiver, providing connectivity throughout the cockpit and cabin.

“Forté AirMail is meeting the needs of today’s business aviation consumers who want an affordable, reliable way to stay connected worldwide,” said Nim Evatt, vice president and general manager of EMS Aviation. “Our system is designed to give on-the-go executives the ability to connect when, where, and how they want so they are never out of touch from their business or their customers.”
