OnAir signed an agreement with Russia-based mobile network operator MegaFon to begin offering in-flight connectivity services in Russia. OnAir, a joint venture between Airbus and SITA, made the announcement Tuesday at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

Under the agreement, MegaFon will operate its own branded air network onboard Aeroflot’s fleet under a license agreement with OnAir, with Swiftbroadband-based service. Passengers flying on Aeroflot equipped A330 and A320 family aircraft will be offered mobile communication packages from MegaFon that will include GSM/GPRS and WiFi.

"Russia is a high-potential market. We are pleased to be the first to enter this market and the first to establish a new form of cooperation with mobile phone companies", said Benoit Debains, CEO of OnAir.
