L2 Consulting Services, of Dripping Springs, Texas, was awarded a FAA supplemental type certificate for the installation of a DAC International Class 3 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system on Boeing 777 series aircraft. The system was installed for ARINC on a Cathay Pacific Airways B777 and was accomplished in Hong Kong, L2 said.

L2 said the DAC International GEN-X EFBs were interfaced to multiple avionics systems through a Ballard Technology Avionics Interface Device AB2000 Series. Ethernet devices were joined through the International Communication Group eSwitch8. The EFBs were interfaced to Iridium Satcom for real-time credit card authorization, wireless LAN for Tech/Cabin logs and bulk EFB updates and FOQA data downloads. ARINC’s Gatefusion is used as the broadband wireless connection between aircraft and ground-based applications.
