GE Aviation Forms Chinese Joint Venture

GE Aviation announced a joint venture with China Aviation Industry Corp. I (AVIC) to sell avionics and services. The 50-50 venture will export products from China and the United States beginning in mid-2010, pending regulatory approval. The companies said GE Aviation’s China Technology Center in Shanghai will house a commercial aviation center and the companies will add 200 U.S. jobs. The joint venture will develop and market integrated avionics systems for commercial aircraft customers, and will offer fully integrated, open architecture avionics and services for future commercial aircraft programs.
