West Star Aviation’s East Alton, Ill., facility completed the installation of an in-flight Web system from Aircell, Broomfield, Colo., on the Cessna Citation 650 and the Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft. The Aircell High Speed Internet System allows crews and passengers connectivity to Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as laptops and BlackBerries. The system can operate at speeds of up to 3.1M for uplink to the aircraft and 1.8M downlink to the aircraft. This air-to-ground-based system requires the Aircell AGT-4000 and two belly mounted antennas. The AirCell Axxess phone system provides two channels of Iridium worldwide voice connectivity and is a prerequisite for the Aircell High Speed Internet System.
