Goodrich Corp., Charlotte, N.C., received a contract from the Naval Research Laboratory to provide CA-247 wide-area airborne persistent surveillance sensors and associated data items for U.S. forces. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter 2009. Goodrich said its ISR Systems divison in Barrington, Ill., will perform the work. The CA-247 sensor integrates advanced optics and software to provide surveillance and situational awareness to ground troops in the urban environment. "The wide area persistent surveillance concept is the next step in the evolution of aerial reconnaissance," said Tom Bergeron, president of Goodrich’s ISR Systems.
