Sensis Corp., Syracuse, N.Y., was awarded a contract by the Department of Transportation to provide its Web-based Aerobahn surfacing monitoring service to FAA at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). FAA will use the service for monitoring and measuring surface operations at JFK to address potential changes to airport operations that would ease congestion and flight delays. Sensis said Aerobahn combines airline flight schedule and corresponding operational information with ground surveillance data from the airport’s surface surveillance system to provide a real-time view of surface operations. At JFK, FAA’s Airport Surface Detection Equipment, Model X (ASDE-X) system provides real-time aircraft position data to Aerobahn.
