Lockheed Martin was awarded a $24.8 million contract modification from the U.S. Air Force to procure fabrication, support and assembly of C-5B Galaxy Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) Group A and Spares for seven aircraft. LAIRCM is a laser-based countermeasures system that operates automatically by detecting a missile launch, determining if it is a threat and activating a high-intensity infrared countermeasure system to track and defeat the threat.
