German regional airline Eurowing selected Rockwell Collins’ HGS-4200 Head-Up Guidance System (HGS) for its fleet of CRJ700s. Deliveries began in September 2007. Rockwell Collins said the HGS expands the operational capability of the CRJ700 by reducing the airplane’s approved approach minima from Cat II to Cat III, reducing the decision height from 100 feet to 50 feet and the Runway Visual Range from 550M to 200M. Additionally, the HGS Low Visibility Takeoff capability reduces the minimum RVR required for takeoff from 125M to 75M. The HGS-4200 displays critical flight information in the pilot’s forward field of view. Additional features include the display of runway remaining, unusual attitude recovery symbology and an angle of attack indicator.
