Lufthansa Group subsidiary Lufthansa Systems, Kelsterbach, Germany, launched a Web-based in-flight aircraft performance monitoring system to help operators determine flight control efficiency. The Lido electronic Aircraft Performance Monitoring (eAPM) system enables an airline to calculate the performance correction factor of an individual aircraft which, in turn, creates opportunities to save fuel and costs, plan maintenance and deploy individual aircraft more efficiently. FAA and the European Joint Aviation Authorities accept continuous monitoring of each aircraft in a fleet as a precondition to operate based on corrected aircraft-specific performance factors, Lufthansa Systems said. “It is a further step in our on-going effort to contribute to greener aviation,” said Marc Szepan, senior vice president of Airline Operations Solutions at Lufthansa Systems.
